Ksoloti Core
Ksoloti is an environment for generating and processing digital audio. It can be a programmable virtual modular synthesizer, polysynth, drone box, sequencer, chord generator, multi-effect unit, sample player, looper, granular sampler, MIDI generator/processor, CV or trigger generator, anything in between, and more.
The Ksoloti Core is a rework of the (discontinued?) Axoloti Core board. In short, Ksoloti aims for maximum compatibility with the original Axoloti, while introducing some layout changes and additional features.
Using the Patcher software on your computer, you create your own sound patches by placing and connecting sound objects, or explore patches shared by other users. You can edit existing patches and even individual objects, or write entirely new ones from scratch. Once you're satisfied with your patch, you can upload it to the Ksoloti Core's internal memory–or save a collection of patches on SD card–allowing you can play it without your computer connected.
The fun really begins when you connect a class-compliantSome manufacturers call it "class-compliant MIDI device", some just add a remark that "it works out of the box" or "no drivers are required".
When in doubt, check with the manufacturer and have a look at the List of Tested MIDI Devices on the Ksoloti Forum! USB MIDI controller to the USB host port. Or take the DIY route: solder pots, buttons, LEDs, displays, sensors, and more together to control your patches and transform Ksoloti into tactile, highly playable hardware instrument.
Currently, three types of official DIY kits exist for Ksoloti:
- Alt Circuits K-Control Mini, a mini controller with knobs and LED feedback
- Ksoloti Gills, a desktop synth/effect box
- Ksoloti Big Genes, a 20hp Eurorack module
